The Charles River women’s team capped off a great 2014-2015 season with a fantastic playoff weekend. They headed to Albany for the USA Rugby/NERFU CR3 DII playoffs on May 16 to pick up on their 2nd place finish from the Fall. Facing hometown opponent Beantown WRFC, the Lady Rats fought a blood-pumping game full of heart to come away with the win. With a score of 20-19, CRWRFC beat Beantown for the first time in the club’s 10 years. The win put them through to the CR3 championship match on Sunday against Burlington. On a hot 85º day, the River ladies gave it their all, but at the final whistle a strong and solid Burlington team came out on top.
The weekend was a tremendous success for the Lady Rats, maintaining their 2nd place spot in NERFU Women’s DII and advancing to USA Rugby round of 16. That placed them in the ranks of the top 16 DII teams in the country, the furthest CRWRFC has ever finished on the national championship circuit.
It was a great season for Charles River Women and fantastic way to celebrate our 10th Anniversary year!
Up River til we die!
