Match Details: The Charles River Rats had an early rugby day as their kickoff against Portland RFC was scheduled for 10am. The weather was, as Captain Ricky Friberg described, “sneaky hot” as many Rats were sweating during warm-ups. The field was, in the words of the referee, “if people complain about Moakley [field], they should play here; they’ll like Moakley a lot more
[3].” To the Rats and Portland all those conditions ultimately did not matter, as they took the pitch to play some hard, clean rugby.

Match Details: With a productive week of practice and a reasonable commute, Head Coach Paul Clemens felt that his players, the Charles River Rats, could pull-off the upset against the ruggers from the Granite State, Amoskeag RFC. Those feelings for optimism were quickly dashed when Amoskeag instantly proved that they were the more talented, improving their season record to 4-0, while the Rats have yet to win a game this season.

Match Details: From the start of the 2013 fall season, it seemed that the Charles River Rats were showing signs of improvements as they nearly beat Newport RFC and scored a “try bonus” point in the NERFU standings against Saratoga Springs RFC. All the progress the Rats made under the guidance of Head Coach Paul Clemens diminished against New Haven Old Black RFC, as the Rats were severely beaten in nearly every faucet of the game.

Match Details: It was a long day for the Charles River Rats. It was a long commute to Waterford, NY (a three-hour car drive), a long kickoff delay
