Meet Charles Nastasi

Not many college rugby clubs can claim to have won their first rugby match ever, but when Charles “Chuck Nasty” Nastasi founded Endicott College’s rugby team in 2014, that’s exactly what they did. Charles also coached both the men’s and women’s teams at Endicott, and when his demanding coaching schedule lined up with Charles River’s practice schedule, Chuck was persuaded by college teammates Tom Murray and Adam Smith to come out for the Rats. Amidst all that, Charles found the time to travel to South Africa with the Bhubesi Pride Foundation in Summer of 2016, helping underprivileged children through service work and by coaching rugby.

Charles and Charles River were a natural fit, and his contributions have been considerable. From his first try for River where he picked off a flyhalf and was nearly chased down at Can-Am in 2016 to his critical role in the powerhouse of the Charles River scrums for the past season, this second row and loose forward has shown his dedication to the sport and his club over and over. Most recently, he has taken on the role of Recruitment Chair, working to guarantee the future success of the club both on and off the pitch.
