Charles River Welcomes New Head Coaches

Men’s Head Coach – John “Skeletor” Faherty

The Charles River Rats are pleased and excited to announce the appointment of the new Men’s Head Coach, John Scott “Skeletor” Faherty Jr. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Coach John began his rugby career in 2005 as a Scrum Half, later shifting between Centre, Fly Half, and Wing with clubs including the Framingham Exiles and our own Charles River. Coach John also founded and currently coaches the Greater Boston Wasps Sevens Rugby Club (a Charles River affiliate), which competes in the premier divison of NERFU Sevens Circuit during the summer months. His deep knowledge of rugby and drive for excellence propelled Charles River forward this past fall season, and we are eagerly awaiting to see what he has in store for us this coming year. Coach John recently married the love of his life, Jeana. They currently reside in North Andover, MA. Welcome (back) to the Charles River Rugby Family!

Fun Facts: Coach John is the proud owner of a vintage slap bracelet collection. He was a member of the 1991 Tewksbury Little League Champions, and recently took up the ukulele.

Women’s Head Coach – Meghan “Maggie” Conley

After having worked with Charles River Women as an assistant coach over the past year, Meghan “Maggie” Conley took the reins as head coach of the Lady Rats this Fall, taking over for long time head coach Brian Lottridge.  A veteran of the Boston rugby scene, Maggie played and worked for many years with Boston Women’s Rugby.  She is also an alumna of St. Michael’s College rugby, like fellow coach Brian. Her energy and enthusiasm for the sport are infectious, and her knowledge of the game is outstanding. We are excited to welcome her focus, experience, and vision to lead us as we head into a new Fall season and beyond! Cheers and welcome, Maggie!
